Lamont Barnes is the Founder and President of Minority Biz. He is a staunch advocate of entrepreneurship, and believes that the optimal approach to achieving financial independence and wealth is attained through business ownership.
Lamont particularly champions for the success of black-owned and other minority-owned businesses, as he believes that developing healthy and sustainable minority businesses reduces unemployment rates, narrows wealth disparities, and strengthens the U.S. economy.
Well aware that minorities’ rate of success in business is below the national average primarily due to the lack of savings and access to investment capital, Lamont revised the “Buy Local” principles and created a community for minority-owned businesses, consumers, and diversity conscious businesses to recycle their money with one another as a means to collectively grow their financial resources.
A casualty of the new millennium’s global financial crisis, Lamont’s decade long professional career in corporate and investment banking, and other financial analysis positions ended, as he determined that a job could no longer be recognized as a trusted path to financial security. Lamont has since been driven to achieve financial security for himself and others through entrepreneurship.
The list of businesses that Lamont had a majority interest in over the years includes real estate, entertainment, transportation, and e-commerce ventures. He is now dedicated to assembling a community of entrepreneurs, industry experts, and investment consumers who will teach, promote, and financially support minority-owned businesses.
